Where it began
Born in San Diego County in March of 1965 Almost
since birth I have had a great affinity for the arts and sciences.
My first published work, at the young age of 5 if memory serves, was
a 7 page illustrated story about eagles. "My grandmother kept it
till the day
she died." I've worked with
computers since the age of 12. "I think I still have that
oldTI-99/4A around here somewhere." Always having loved beeps whirs
and little flashing lights it seemed a natural enough thing to do.
Oh the Memories
Throughout my Jr. High and High School days I delved deeply into Advanced Dungeons& Dragons, Science Fiction and Fantasy. "Yes boys and girls, I saw Star Wars 52 times in the theater." The character I played most often in AD&D was an eccentric Elf/Human sorcerer named Lord Darian. Throughout the years, his persona became more and more distinct, eventually taking on traits vastly different then my own.
In time Lord Darian became much more then just a character in a game, I often found myself asking him for advice. Not to say the little voices in my head kept me company, but more a mature moral template to hold up and compare to my life's trials. "What would Darian do if he were here?"
Semper Fi
In the early eighties I started writing a novel titled: Memories of
Futures Past. It's the story of Lord Darian and his travels through
a very long life, greater then 35,000 years of history. I joined the
Marine Corp, learned to kill and all the reasons why there are times
when there is no
other choice. I fell in love, married and had children twice! After
the service I got my degree and took my skills with electronics and
computers into the private sectors. As for the novel, it continues
to change and evolve as I learn more about my alter ego, due more to
my own evolving outlook then to any great breakthrough. I'm not sure
if I'll ever finish it, I'm not sure I would want to.
